All noranora frames are made from chrome-plated steel, not stainless steel. Chrome is applied as a soft nickel-chrome alloy layer around the steel; because this layer is softer than the steel underneath, it resists scratching and any scratches stay less visible, adding to the frame's durability. Stainless steel is heavier, harder to work with, and typically has a more matte appearance, and tends to be used more in outdoor applications. noranora chooses chrome-plated steel for its bright, mirror finish, which suits the archetypal character of the design.

The frame is available in chrome as standard, and in every RAL colour as a powder-coated finish, including black. For the office and boardroom range specifically, the height-adjustable cylinder is available only in black or chrome, regardless of the frame's RAL colour.

A noranora chair does not really have an end of lifespan in the usual sense. The frame is built to last; it will basically last forever. The only part that reaches an end of lifespan is the upholstery. When that happens, seat and back can be replaced, keeping the chair in use rather than getting discarded.

Yes. If you already have a fabric sample and it is a genuine upholstery-grade fabric, noranora can upholster with it. Because noranora works with virtually any fabric this way, samples of every fabric are not kept in stock. If something specific catches your eye on the website or Instagram, you can always send an email to ask about it.

COM stands for customer's own material: the option to supply your own fabric for the upholstery of a noranora chair, instead of choosing from the standard Cat A to D fabric categories. This is common in project furnishing, where architects and interior designers have often already selected a fabric that fits the wider interior concept. COM is available on every model in the noranora.003 collection.

Yes. Seat and back can be replaced independently of each other and of the frame. The frame lasts a very long time; the upholstery is simply always the part that is due for renewal first. When that happens, only the upholstery needs replacing, not the whole piece, keeping the furniture reupholsterable rather than disposable.

The steel frames are made in Italy, and upholstery is completed in the Netherlands. This split, European production chain is a deliberate choice and is fully traceable, in line with the brand's sustainability principles.

noranora is built around a modular, flat-pack construction where seat and back are separate from the frame. That single design choice is what makes the collection genuinely circular: because the frame and upholstery are not fused together, a piece can be refurbished rather than replaced. Compared with most furniture in this market, noranora chairs are easier and ultimately cheaper to refurbish, since only the worn part needs renewing instead of the entire product.

Cat A to D are noranora's internal fabric price categories, with Cat A the most affordable and Cat D the most premium, a difference that reflects the quality of the fabric itself. For most projects, Cat C is recommended, both for its look and its durability. Cat B is a good option where the piece sees lighter use. Fabric outside these categories can also be supplied directly by the client as COM.

Most furniture fuses upholstery to the frame, so refreshing a worn chair means replacing the whole piece. Because a noranora frame is built to outlast its upholstery and the seat and back detach independently, refurbishing means buying only the upholstery portion again, not a new frame. That difference is reflected directly in the price: reupholstering typically costs roughly half of buying the piece new, since you are only paying for the part that actually wore out.

noranora delivers internationally; the modular design is specifically built to reduce transport volume and CO2 emissions, which makes it suitable for both European and international projects. On-site installation, however, is currently offered within the Netherlands only. For international projects, delivery is coordinated so the furniture arrives ready for its space.
